Delco hospital reaches tentative deal with nurses

Crozer-Chester Medical Center has reached a tentative agreement with its registered nurses after more than a year of negotiations — and a five-day strike last September at the Upland, Pa., hospital.

Members of the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals will vote on the proposed deal Monday.

The union said no details about the proposed contract will be released until after the ratification vote.

The two sides had struggled to come to terms on issues that included pension changes, salaries and staffing levels.

Nurses held a two-day strike last September over the negotiations – during which the hospital violated employees rights, according to a ruling by the National Labor Relations Board last month.

PASNAP represents 550 registered nurses at the Delaware County hospital.

The Upland, Pa. medical center was one of four area hospitals that posted deficits last year despite having some of the highest markups.
