South Jersey health system begins $200M hospital revitalization project

Kennedy Health broke ground this week on the first phase of a $200 million revitalization project for Kennedy University Hospital in Cherry Hill, N.J.

The first phase of the project is the construction of a $65 million outpatient care pavilion. The 102,000-square-foot pavilion, in addition to providing an array of patient care services, will feature a free 500-space parking facility and atrium lobby.

Among the health services to be provided in what Kennedy is describing as a “medical mall” will be: surgery, medical imaging, physical therapy, laboratory services and pre-admission testing. The pavilion will also have a hyperbaric wound care center and a sleep and balance center.

The second phase of the project, which will be highlighted by construction of an acute-care pavilion, is scheduled to begin in late 2016.

Kennedy University Hospital in Cherry Hill, one of three hospitals operated by the South Jersey health system, opened in 1960. Kennedy also operates hospitals in Stratford and Washington Township.
