Rodin Square broke ground this morning. The massive
development includes a 55,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market at 501 N. 22nd
Street (directly in view of the Ben Franklin Parkway) and a 10-story, 293-unit,
luxury apartment complex called The Dalian on Fairmount.
Dalian Development and International Financial Company,
the developers behind the $160 million mixed-use project, say the Whole Foods,
which will include a 5,000 square foot café and a two-story glass façade, won’t
be the only retailer on the premises.
The corner of 21st and Hamilton will get an
11,000-square-foot CVS/Caremark, while Thomas Jefferson University Hospital
will lease roughly 12,000 square feet at 22nd and Spring Garden. The total
amount of occupied retail space will be 85,000 square feet.
Future residential tenants should expect to find hardwood
floors and "floor to ceiling uninterrupted glass windows," while
amenities should include an e-cafe, bar/media room, billiards room, clubroom
with lounge, 35,000-square-foot rooftop Sky Park (comes with an infinity edge
pool), and a fitness center with 20 feet of glass and yoga room.
An indoor-outdoor heated cabana with televisions and an
outdoor kitchen with many, many grills will also be included. Oh, and there
will be a dog wash room too. There'll be 500 new parking spots.
