SCHOHARIE, N.Y. (AP) - New York landowners along the
planned 124-mile Constitution Pipeline are now getting the details of a second
major pipeline planned along the same route.
Houston-based Kinder Morgan is holding open houses for
property owners along its planned $4 billion Northeast Energy Direct project.
Many landowners along the Constitution Pipeline's route fought that project for
three years before being forced by eminent domain proceedings to allow access
to their land.
But pipeline supporters welcome the construction jobs and
access to natural gas the projects will bring.
Constitution plans to break ground this summer. Northeast
Energy Direct plans to file an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission this fall.
Open houses are scheduled Monday in Schodack (SKOH'-dak)
and Tuesday in Richmondville, and in Pennsylvania on Wednesday and Thursday.
