A Charlotte, N.C., real estate firm is developing a $52
million distribution center for FedEx off River Road in Upper Merion, Pa.
SunCap Property Group has plans to construct a 315,897-square-foot
building on 65 acres at the former Keystone Coke Co. property at 600 River
Road, according to township documents and public meetings. The supervisors
signed off on the project last week and construction is expected to begin in
May.
The facility will employ about 200 people, excluding the
truck drivers that will make pick up and deliveries to the property.
SunCap specializes in the development of single-tenant,
build-to-suit projects. It has completed a dozen distribution facilities for
FedEx, according to its website. The River Road site is near the Blue Route and
Schuylkill Expressway, giving FedEx trucks access to major highways.
