EXTON Construction at the Exton train station will start
this summer, State Sen. Andy Dinniman (D., Chester) announced last week.
The station will get a ticket office, a heated waiting
building, and expanded parking, Dinniman said. It will be made accessible for
people with disabilities, and sidewalks, ramps, and shelters will be improved.
It is the first of five train stations in Chester County
slated for work in coming years.
"Success has been the result of endless hours of
advocacy, planning, and effort, but there is still work to be done,"
Dinniman said in a statement.
Bids for construction will open Friday, and work is
scheduled to begin in July. The project is set to be finished in December 2017.
Improvements are also planned for the Paoli, Downingtown,
Coatesville, and Parkesburg stations. - Justine McDaniel
