Bridgeport applies for street paving grant

BRIDGEPORT >> Borough council approved a resolution Tuesday to apply for a $240,000 Pennsylvania Community Development Block Grant to be used for street paving. The grant includes a $60,000 match from the borough.

Borough Manager Don Curley said the funds will be used to pave sections of Bush, Grove and Coates streets, among others.

Curley will apply for block grants each year in order to fund the borough’s road paving program and at council’s suggestion will make a master list of roads to be paved.

Council will then decide each year how to allocate the funds, and the list will be updated continuously with names of roads that cannot be fixed in a given year for budgetary reasons.

The resolution for the application passed 7-0.
