The retail health clinic arena in the Philadelphia region
is growing more competitive with Rite Aid opening 15 RediClinics in the
Philadelphia region.
The health clinics are the first to open inside Rite Aid
pharmacies since Rite Aid (NYSE: RAD) acquired Houston-based RediClinic last
April. CVS and Walgreens also operate dozens of health clinics inside their
local stores
Rite Aid's clinics will be staffed by nurse
practitioners, physician assistants and medical assistants and provide basic
primary care services like treating minor illnesses or providing health
screenings.
"As a community pharmacy, we are on the front lines
of community health every day and it's critical that we provide the types of
programs, resources and services needed to help our customers live and stay
well," said Ken Martindale, Rite Aid's executive vice
president. "Providing high-quality, convenient and affordable health care
through an in-store RediClinic is just one example of how we are taking our
commitment to the health and wellbeing of our customers to the next
level."
The Camp Hill, Pa., pharmacy chain has opened 14 clinics
in its stores across the region. The locations are below:
- West Chester Pike in Newtown Square
- City Line Avenue and Ogontz Avenue in Philadelphia
- North Flowers Mill Road and Summit Square in Langhorne
- East Baltimore Pike in Yeadon
- Lansdowne Avenue in Drexel Hill
- West Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore
- East Lancaster Avenue in Wayne
- East Baltimore Pike in Media
- East Johnson Highway in Norristown
- County Line Road in Huntingdon Valley
- Brownsville Road in Trevose
- York Road in Warminster
A 15th clinic planned for a Rite Aid in Narbeth will open
soon, the company said. Rite Aid plans to open additional RediClinics inside it
pharmacies across greater Seattle later this spring. The company also plans to
open additional clinics in Texas, where RediClinic is already one of the
largest providers of convenient care services.
