East Hempfield Township-based Providence Engineering
Corp. has promoted David Bernhardt to president of the structural engineering
firm.
Bernhardt, who has been with the firm since 2003, was
serving as vice president of operations. He succeeds founder Dan Fichtner, who
now serves as executive vice president.
"During his time with PEC, David has been
instrumental in the successes and growth of the company," Fichtner said in
a statement. "He has sought ways to grow the firm by reaching new clients
and new markets, while maintaining the same, simple, straightforward business
approach that clients have come to expect from PEC."
In 2003, the firm had eight employees. It now has 40 with
additional offices in Muncy, State College and Harleysville.
The latter opened in June 2014.
PEC added five employees last year and seven the year
before, said Carmen Beinhauer, director of business development.
"Both our short- and long-term strategic plans
include continued expansion both in and out of the state," she said.
PEC serves several market sectors, but the bulk of its work is in
commercial and industrial projects. The firm was founded in 1992.
