New Jersey-based Woodmont Industrial Partners, which
spent $27.8 million last year through a joint venture to acquire the Capital
Business Center in Lower Swatara Township, today said it has secured nearly $33
million in financing to complete its overhaul of the industrial complex.
The renamed Capital Logistics Center, which is near
Harrisburg International Airport, will consist of six buildings and 1.55
million square feet when completed.
As part of the redevelopment, Woodmont demolished two
buildings to make way for construction of two Class A warehouse facilities
totaling about 530,000 square feet. Construction began over the summer.
The first building, 200 Capital Lane, is slated for
completion by the end of the year, said David Iacobucci, the company’s managing
director.
“I am confident we’ll find the right fit for our new
building within months,” he said, having already fielded more than a dozen
inquiries, most from consumer products and third-party logistics companies who
are contracted with retailers.
The second building, 300 Capital Lane, should break
ground by February or March, he said.
The first structure will be the largest in the park with
87 dock doors, plus two drive-in doors and 36-foot clear heigh ceilings,
according to Woodmont.
The company has repainted all of the existing buildings
to match the new construction. A comprehensive signage upgrade is underway,
including new monument signage at the entrance to the park.
“The entire look of the park has been freshened up,”
Iacobucci said.
Landscape changes will be designed this winter, with
upgrades slated for the spring, he said. That should include some tree
plantings.
