New $86 million justice center is almost ready to open
DOYLESTOWN A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for
Jan. 10 to officially dedicate the county's new $86 million justice center. A
public open house has also been set for the following day. However, the
building will not officially open for business until a date to be determined
later in the month, county officials said Monday.
The new Bucks County Justice Center is an eight-story
facility and the county's most expensive construction project. Delays at the
beginning of the project pushed back the building's opening for several months.
When finished, the 285,000-square-foot facility will have
16 courtrooms (with the capability to add three more, officials say), two
floors below ground and six above ground, and, according to the commissioners,
improvements in technology and security over the current courthouse.
