B.R. Kreider & Son Inc., an excavating,
paving and site-management company based in Manheim Township, is transitioning
to new leadership under Brent Kreider, a fourth-generation family member.
Currently vice president of sales, Kreider will take over
next month as president of the family firm and its subsidiary, Pin Oak Service
Center, the company said in a news release. He succeeds Michael Fecik, who has
served as president and CFO since 2005.
Fecik will remain with B.R. Kreider & Son as
executive vice president and member of the executive management team in
addition to his current role as CFO.
“Michael was critical to the success of the transition in
family leadership and unselfishly worked with me for this moment,” Kreider
said. “He is a family friend and mentor and his continuing presence will
benefit our company. Michael steered us through some tough economic times and
helped us accomplish a smooth transition.”
Five years ago, Brent Kreider, son of Ken Kreider; Heidi
Hollinger, daughter of Jim Kreider; and Courtney Dougherty, daughter of Carol
Buchen, acquired 100 percent of the business from their parents.
Siblings, Carol Buchen and Jim and Ken Kreider
represented the third generation to run the company.
The transition “continues the legacy of the Kreider
family making sure the next generation is ready to lead and grow the company
for the benefit of our customers and our employees," Fecik said.
As part of the transition, Ken Kreider, past president
and CEO, will officially retire at the end of 2014 after 47 years with the
company. Jim Kreider, current vice president, and Buchen, senior consultant,
will transition to part-time roles, the release said.
“The example and leadership displayed by
each generation continues to be invaluable for the future of our company,” said
Brent Kreider. “Heidi, Courtney and I are thankful for the lessons we
have learned and continue to learn from them and we are excited about the
opportunity to continue to serve our customers and our business in the coming
years.”
