For the second time in less than three weeks, the
Teamsters union has withdrawn a petition for a unionization vote at a FedEx
Freight facility.
Teamsters on Wednesday pulled the petition for the vote
at FedEx's South Newark, N.J. service center after losing a vote elsewhere in
the state earlier this month.
As FedEx Freight, a division of Memphis-based FedEx Corp.
(NYSE: FDX), pointed out in a prepared statement, the union also withdrew a
petition at its North Harrisburg service center in Middletown, PA, on Oct. 30,
also the day before its election.
"Union officials generally withdraw election
petitions when they believe they are going to lose," FedEx blithely
stated.
Teamsters, which have recently targeted FedEx for a
unionization push, have so far scored two victories and three defeats, and have
withdrawn two petitions.
