Negotiators for SEPTA and its Regional Rail engineers
returned to labor talks on Monday, raising hopes for a settlement soon to the
long-running dispute.
The 220 engineers, who have been without a new contract
since 2010, went on a one-day strike in June and have said they are prepared to
strike again in February, when a presidential mediation board's term expires.
SEPTA also will resume negotiations Tuesday with the
unions representing bus drivers, subway and trolley operators and other
workers, whose contracts expired in March and April.
