NXTsports, now based in Bala Cynwyd, Pa., is relocating
its headquarters to the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
The company, which is just four years old and focuses on
youth sports education programs and events, will bring 20 new jobs to the city.
It will be headquartered in building 101 at 4747 S. Broad
St. and occupy 7,000 square feet. Patrick T. Heim of Binswanger represented the
company.
NXTsports currently leases space at 555 City Ave. and
considered remaining in the building when it launched its search. It also
looked at other office properties in Bala Cynwyd, Conshohocken, Pa., and at the
Navy Yard.
"We love the vibe down there," said Joel
Zuercher, chief operating officer and general counsel at the company. "We
are a young, energetic company and it seems like that is the place to be for a
growing business such as ours."
NXTsports has gone from three employees to 20 in the last
three years and it expects to continue growing. The new space will give its
some extra room to accommodate that growth.
The company runs programs and events throughout the
region and the Navy Yard's highway access was also an attribute the company
liked. The company will also benefit from the city's Jump Start tax abatement
program that gives firms breaks on the business income and receipts taxes.
"That was a big factor for us," Zuercher said.
The company will move in January.
