Developers will make case for plan to build houses
CONCORD TWP. Developers seeking to build houses on open
space in Concord Township will make their case to the township Planning
Commission Monday night.
The proposal to build on 300 undeveloped acres near busy
Route 202 and the Pennsylvania-Delaware border has been controversial. Concord
Township is one of Delaware County's fastest-growing communities; the land in
question is home to popular trails and abuts more than 1,000 acres of federally
protected open space.
Representatives of Woodlawn Trustees Inc., which owns the
land, have said trails and some open space would remain accessible for public
use. But residents have organized against the plan, forming organizations
called Save the Valley and the Beaver Valley Conservancy.
The Planning Commission meeting begins at 6 p.m. at
Garnet Valley Middle School.
