Donald Trump hints at saving his Atlantic City casino empire

Donald Trump has hinted at a return to the Atlantic City casino market.

On the same day that the Trump Plaza closed its doors, The Donald took to Twitter to say he's interested in a possible return to the market — and to bash Atlantic City casino owners and politicians.

"I left Atlantic City years ago, good timing. Now I may buy back in, at much lower price, to save Plaza & Taj. They were run badly by funds!" Trump said via his Twitter account @realDonaldTrump.

In another tweet, Trump said: "It is so sad to see what has happened to Atlantic City. So many bad decisions by the pols over the years - airport, convention center, etc."

The Trump Taj Mahal casino, once his prize possession in Atlantic City, has notified 3,100 employees of its possible closure on November 13. (A third casino, the Trump Marina is now the Golden Nugget.)

People on Twitter, especially out of work casino employees, encouraged Trump to return to AC. Mark Paullin (@sirsmooth61) said: "Taj employee here mr trump, we will welcome you back with open arms! We need you back!"

Trump's response: "Thanks Mark, I am looking!"

Another said that AC lost its mojo since Trump left, and another tweeter said that the city needs "some of the Trump Magic" to save it as a beach resort town. (See tweets below.)

But not everybody was enthusiastic:
