Tree clearing started today as construction of a health
and wellness dental center began on vacant land in Bethlehem Township.
Allied Building Corp. of Bethlehem is building the center
for Dr. Charles Wolfe, a Bethlehem Township dentist. Semmel Excavating of Upper
Macungie Township is clearing the land.
The building will go up on the corner of Freemansburg
Avenue and Farmersville Road and is designed by LB&W Design Associates Inc.
of Bethlehem.
Township commissioners preliminarily approved the project
early in 2013. They recently finalized plan recording and documentation
required before construction could start, said Nathan Jones, planning director
for the township.
Since the building is owned by a local dentist, the
project fits in with the neighborhood, according to Jones.
“It’s in our neighborhood overlay district,” Jones said.
“It was a local business, there are other businesses along that corridor of
that size and scope.”
The building will have about 4,200 square feet on each
level, including the first floor, which is where Wolfe will have his dental
practice, he said.
He said he is hoping to lease other space to a
chiropractor or other health care professional. He said the lower level will be
a conference room and future exercise/meeting room for classes.
The building square footage is 8,600, not including 4,200
square feet on the lower level.
The center will provide a spa for facials, massage and
other services, with plans to include Botox and derma fillers, Wolfe said.
“My dental office will be expanding from not just
providing general and cosmetic dentistry but a health and wellness concept to
include sleep apnea and a licensed nutritionist for dietary consulting,” he
said.
The building should be complete by late winter or early
spring, Wolfe said.
