DOYLESTOWN The Central Bucks School District and its
1,200-member teachers union agreed to a new four-year contract this week.
The agreement increases the overall teacher salary pool
by about 2.6 percent over the course of the contract, according to Alfred J.
D'Angelo Jr., a lawyer who negotiated the deal on behalf of the district. That
should equate to a pay increase for teachers of about 0.6 percent per year, he
said.
Specific pay raises for individual teachers will vary
based on experience and incentives, D'Angelo added.
Also as part of the deal, some teachers will have to
contribute more to their health-care plans, D'Angelo said, though some plans
will be available at a lower rate than before.
The new contract was approved by the school board at a
meeting Tuesday.
