A wholesale club in Franklin County built by a York
developer had a soft opening last weekend and will mark its grand opening
Saturday.
BJ’s Wholesale Club opened the doors at 540
Gateway Ave., Chambersburg. Kinsley Construction Inc.
was the general contractor for the 88,750-square-foot building.
I.B. Abel Inc. of York
handled the electrical work, said Anne Miller, marketing director for Kinsley. Forefront Construction Co. Inc.
of Middletown did the HVAC work. The Witmer Co. of New
Holland did the plumbing. Diamond Automatic Sprinklers Inc.
of Boiling Springs handled the sprinkler system.
The cost of the project was not disclosed.
The business is creating 103 new full- and part-time
jobs, including 57 filled by Chambersburg residents, according to a news
release from BJ’s.
The club will feature organic and all-natural foods; a
fresh bakery; a full-service deli; a tire center; propane; and a gas station
with regular gas, premium and diesel pumps. Also, the club has an optical
center and a kiosk for Diamond Wireless/Premium Verizon Wireless retailer.
Aside from consumer memberships, the club offers a
business membership for $50 per year.
This is the third BJ’s in the midstate. The wholesale
club also has locations in Lower Allen Township,
Cumberland County, and West Manchester Township,
York County.
Will others be developed soon in the midstate?
“I have no information at this time to provide confirming
other clubs we plan to open in this region,” said Maria Fruci, BJ’s external
communications manager.
Headquartered in Westborough, Mass., BJ’s Wholesale Club
Inc. operates 204 clubs and 118 gas stations in 15 eastern states.
