PETROLIA, Pa. (AP) - Union workers have ratified a
three-year contract, ending a four-month lockout at the Indspec chemical plant
in western Pennsylvania.
Ron Bowser, president of the United Steelworkers of America
local that agreed to the deal, tells the Butler Eagle (http://bit.ly/1oggG4G )
that the contract includes concessions.
Bowser wouldn't detail the terms, but previously it was
reported that the company wanted to cut the pay on 30 lower-grade jobs, reduce
workers' personal days, and change scheduling and health insurance terms.
The union includes about 175 full-time workers at the plant
some 40 miles north of Pittsburgh.
Bowser says about 25 union employees retired during the
lockout, and that the company is advertising for replacements.
Indspec is owned by Occidental Petroleum Corp. of Los
Angeles.
