Pennsylvania insurers have
requested rate increases of up to 26 percent for some individual and
small-group plans starting Jan. 1, 2015, according to regulatory filings with
the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.
Obamacare requires that rate
increase requests of 10 percent or more on non-grandfathered individual and
small-group plans be posted publicly, and increases at that level must be approved by the PID before
being enacted. Pennsylvania’s public notice system does not include requests
below 10 percent.
All of the following requests were
submitted on July 16 or 18 and are listed as pending, meaning they have not yet
obtained approval.
