H.B. McClure wraps up Procter & Gamble facility near Shippensburg

Harrisburg-based mechanical contractor H.B. McClure Co., has wrapped up a $3.5 million contract to install piping throughout the 1.7 million-square-foot distribution facility for Procter & Gamble Co. near Shippensburg.

P&G, the world’s largest consumer products firm, is now occupying the $93 million complex, which was built on 183 acres at 9300 Olde Scotland Road in Southampton Township, Franklin County.

H.B. McClure installed 28,000 feet, or 4.5 miles, of pipe in the facility, which covers almost 30 football fields.

The team used Viega Propress and MegaPress systems — mechanical joints for pipe that do not need to be soldered or welded — to help overcome some delays in the project that were caused by the harsh winter weather.

“It saved us some time,” said Jeri Donadee, the firm’s vice president.

Conewago Township-based Conewago Enterprises Inc. was the general contractor on the project.
