Final bids are due Monday for Atlantic City's Revel Casino
Hotel, according to the Associated Press. Constructed for $2.4 billion, it's
expected to sell much cheaper.
Since it opened in 2012, the facility has had a long string
of bad press — deadly escalator accidents; people rebelling against its
anti-smoking policy; and two bankruptcies.
In late August, Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian revealed
that Revel has "a half dozen" potential buyers — welcome news to the
thousands of workers who could be unemployed if Revel closes its doors,
especially since the Showboat and Trump Plaza are set to close soon.
Back in June, the Revel announced that it would close
without a buyer, and leave its staff of 3,200 people unemployed.
