Patriot FCU expanding with three construction projects

Patriot Federal Credit Union is growing, with three projects starting this summer.

Tom Iacona, corporate affairs officer of the Chambersburg-based credit union, said the projects will start within the next 30 to 45 days and involve two new branches and the expansion of a third.

The first branch will be on Route 30 next to Lowe's, Iacona said, though no date has been announced for an opening. The second branch is in the Hagerstown, Md., area on Robinwood Drive near the Robinwood Medical Center. The Maryland location is projected to open by the end of the year and will be the financial institution's third branch in the state.

The expansion will be at 488 Gateway Ave. in Chambersburg, Iacona said. The branch is near the closed branch of Community of Healthcare Employees Credit Union, which merged with Patriot in 2013.

Construction estimates were not available.

Patriot FCU currently has eight branches, which includes a branch at Chambersburg Area Senior High School for students, staff and faculty only. The credit union recently surpassed $500 million in assets, Iacona said.
