New medical office building to rise in South Whitehall Township

Serfass Construction broke ground this week on a new project for Allentown Family Foot Care, said Kevin Serfass, vice president.

The site, at 2114 Walbert Ave. in South Whitehall Township, will be called Gold SEAL at Walbert, a throwback to the days of Dr. Ray Fritz’s career as a Navy SEAL, according to Serfass.

The 6,400-square-foot office building will serve Fritz’s tenants for Allentown Family Foot Care, which is moving its existing office about 500 feet to the new, larger more efficient location. Serfass said construction should take six months, with a planned opening in early 2015.

MKSD Architects of South Whitehall Township is the architect for the design/build project.

Fritz said his family foot-care business has four office locations in the Lehigh Valley; the business has 20-25 employees split between the four locations. He began his private practice in 1991 when he got out of the Navy, Fritz said.

His business offers foot and ankle services, including therapy services, advanced surgical techniques and corrective foot surgery.

The need for more space led to the plan to design and build a bigger building close to the original site.

“We’re growing; we are just trying to get a real nice flow pattern,” Fritz said. “People are paying so much more for health care; that’s why we are doing this, it has a nice layout.”

Allentown Family Foot Care will be the predominant tenant in the one-floor building, with two other offices on site. One will be for Gold SEAL Properties and the other does not have a tenant signed yet, according to Fritz.
