Kinsley Construction nabs $9.5M contract to build Delaware plant

Wyomissing’s Kinsley Construction has landed a $9.5 million contract to build a manufacturing facility in Dover, Del., giving the company a chance to expand its footprint into a new area.

Germany-based Uzin-Utz Manufacturing North America makes product systems designed for the preparation, installation and finishing of hardwood and other floor coverings. Kinsley will build for it a 53,000-square-foot production plant, Uzin-Utz’s first in the United States, that will make dry mortar floor and patching compounds.

“Uzin-Utz gives us a project in Delaware, where we are not very well known,” Jack Hoy Jr., business development for Kinsley Construction, said this morning. “We really want to increase our presence in that area.”

The facility also will be home to a research and development center and an applications area for testing and customer training.

Construction is expected to be completed by next spring.

Providing general contracting, construction management and design build services for more than 50 years, Kinsley’s recent high-profile projects include a 1 million-square-foot Dollar General in Bethel and a 300,000-square-foot warehouse in Lower Nazareth Township for Griffin Land.

“Hopefully the Uzin-Utz project serves as a springboard for other opportunities,” Hoy said. “An opportunity for us to get a foothold in that area [Delaware] and expand.”
