This course is designed for architects, engineers and LEED
professionals. The course provides an extensive review of the various
fire-safety building codes. Participants will also review details related to
testing methods for materials and assemblies for fire resistance. There will be
discussion related to the LEED rating system and points that may be achieved.
Low Slope Roof
Insulation featuring Polyisocyanurate:
Participants will learn the background and current best
practices of insulation in low slope roofing applications, with specific focus
on polyisocyanurate- the most prevalent form of low slope roofing insulation
today. They will learn the terminology and application basics of low slope
insulation and gain an understanding of how and when polyisocyanurate is used.
Introduction to
Gypsum Area Separation Walls:
This one-hour course discusses today's gypsum area
separation walls (ASWs) are a response to a pervasive need: to prevent the
spread of fire through multi-family townhouses. What many people may not be
aware of how they work to accomplish their important task. The course begins
with a brief comparison of some historical alternatives to the modern gypsum
ASW, and a review of the elements that make up the ASW assembly.
Acoustical Ceilings
for the Eye, the Ear and the Mind:
This course provides an overview of the principals of sound
attenuation and light reflectance. Learners will be introduced to subjects such
as, the Noise reduction coefficient. Further discussion will introduce the main
properties of acoustical ceilings, their function and performance and how
acoustical performance is related to health concerns.
