SugarHouse Casino has received the final U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers permit needed to build its long-planned $155 million expansion, a
company spokesman said.
The receipt of that permit cleared the way for SugarHouse to
go before the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Wednesday with its request to
build a temporary poker room.
Preliminary site work has been underway at the Fishtown
property. The original plan was for the permanent expansion to open next year.
SugarHouse's general manager Wendy Hamilton said last week
at a Pennsylvania Senate hearing that the expansion would be geared "to
offer a richer entertainment experience."
