Harrisburg-based Alexander Building Construction Co. has
been awarded a $9 million contract for a building project at Lycoming College
in Williamsport, the firm announced last week.
Alexander, which also has an office in State College, will
provide preconstruction and construction services for an addition to the Heim
Science Building.
The 31,000-square-foot, three-story addition will connect to
the north side of the building. It will include space for the school’s
astronomy, geology and physics programs, including a new planetarium.
Construction is slated to begin this summer. It will take
about a year to complete and should be ready for classes in August 2015,
according to Alexander.
Lycoming College is a four-year, residential liberal arts
and sciences school with about 1,400 undergraduates.
Alexander is part of Butz Enterprises Inc., based in
Allentown. Butz reported $301.6 million in revenue last year, according to
Engineering News-Record, or ENR.
