(UPDATE – May 6, 2014, 10:30 AM) Regional Collective Bargaining Agreements for Philadelphia Commercial Construction and Heavy & Highway Contractors that Expired at Midnight on April 30, 2014:

We still have two groups actively negotiating their collective bargaining agreements.  One employer association and their labor partner is continuing to report that active negotiations are ongoing at this time and that labor and management continue to work together to reach a mutually acceptable agreements.  

Additionally, we currently have several rounds of trade negotiations taking place within the Mid Atlantic regional construction industry and also outside of the industry, but with associated trades, that could impact our region’s workforce.  Currently, at least one contractor group is experiencing a regional work stoppage.  It is our hope that both labor and management can get back to the table and engage in active negotiations quickly to continue to works towards mutually acceptable agreements.

In the event of a work stoppage, GMCS provides contractor support in the form of dual Gate Language and administration, support, strategy and guidance on your obligations as a member of an employer association or as an independent in the industry.

AGREEMENTS NOT SETTLED AS OF MAY 6, 2014:

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS – International Union of Operating Engineers AFL-CIO, Local #542 and the General Building Contractors Association: (Agreement expired at Midnight on April 30, 2014.   Reports of anticipated work actions are been reported; nothing has been confirmed at the time of this update.)

Existing terms: A 2 year agreement, effective term started 5/1/2012 and expires on April 30, 2014:

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS – United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers & Allied Workers Local Union #30 and the Roofing Contractors Association: (Agreement expired at Midnight on April 30, 2014.  Management and labor have reported that they continue to negotiate in good faith and are working towards a mutually acceptable agreement.  No work actions are being reported.)

Existing terms: A 2 year agreement, effective term started 5/1/2012 and expired on April 30, 2014:

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS –  Metropolitan Regional Council of Carpenters and or Relations Division of the Construction Contractors Council, Inc. - AGC Labor Division: (Agreement expired at Midnight on April 30, 2014.  Association is currently experiencing a work action.)

Existing terms: A 3 year agreement, effective term starting 5/1/2012 and expiring on April 30, 2015.

AGREEMENTS SETTLED:

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS – Steamfitters Local 420 and the Mechanical Contractors & Service Contractors Association of Eastern Pennsylvania and Greater Delaware Valley. (Tentative agreement reached; awaiting details and confirmation from the representing Association.)

A 3 year agreement, effective term started 5/1/2014 and expires on April 30, 2017.

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS – Laborers District Council and the Contractors Association of Eastern Pennsylvania: (Tentative agreement reached; awaiting details and confirmation from the representing Association.)

A 3 year agreement, effective term started 5/1/2014 and expires on April 30, 2017.

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS – Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local Union 14 and the Delaware Valley Insulation & Abatement Contractors Association: (Tentative agreement reached; awaiting details and confirmation from the representing Association.)

 A 3 year agreement, effective term started 5/1/2014 and expires on April 30, 2017:

Existing terms: A 3 year agreement, effective term starting 5/1/2012 and expiring on April 30, 2015:
Extended existing agreement an additional 2 years.  Started 5/1/2012 and expires on April 30, 2017

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS –  Metropolitan Regional Council of Carpenters and Labor Relations Division of the Maryland Chapter of the Associated General Contractors.

A 3 year agreement, effective term starting 4/1/2014 and expiring on March 30, 2017
