PHILADELPHIA - April 3, 2014 (WPVI) -- The clock is ticking
for SEPTA and its union workers to reach a contract agreement.
Action News is told negotiations between the transit agency
and union representatives were scheduled for Thursday morning but that meeting
was canceled.
The two sides were expected to meet sometime later in the
day.
They are trying to reach a deal before the last of four
union contracts expires at midnight on Sunday.
Union officials have said they will do whatever it takes to
avoid a strike, but will give riders 24 hours' notice if they do decide to walk
off the job.
SEPTA has prepared a contingency plan in the event of a
strike.
