La Salle University has plans to construct a new fitness
center and campus store.
The 10,000-square-foot building will cost between $4 million
and $5 million. It will be located on the south side of Olney Avenue between
the school’s Connelly library and the Hayman Center, La Salle’s main sports
venue.
The complex was designed by Hord/Coplan/Macht, an
architectural firm from Baltimore.
Construction is scheduled to begin this summer and completed
by next spring.
The Philadelphia school has been active over the last 15
years constructing new facilities and has more in the works. A ground breaking
is scheduled for May 6 on a new $35 million business school that is expected to
be completed by January 2016.
