Work begins on new home for Banko beer distributor

Boyle Construction has begun a building renovation and expansion that will house the new home of Banko Beverage.

The project, which should top $10 million, will include a larger warehouse for the beer distributorship's growing business.

The new facility, on Crackersport Road in South Whitehall Township, will then be able to accommodate all of the company's roughly 100 staff members – now divided between buildings in Allentown and Bethlehem.

"Everything will be under one roof, which we didn't have before," said Tom Lynch, executive vice president of Banko.

Boyle of South Whitehall Township is renovating the existing 98,954 square feet space – which had been home to Wolf Distribution. A 19,460-square-foot addition designed by Spillman Farmer Architects of Bethlehem will be added as part of the project.

Banko, which celebrated its 80th anniversary last year, should be moved in to the new property by July.
