Casino union pickets biggest Revel owner

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Atlantic City's main casino workers' union demonstrated Thursday outside the offices of the largest owner of the Revel Casino Hotel, demanding job security in the event of a sale.

The protest by Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union came hours after Revel president Scott Kreeger said prospective purchasers of the casino all intend to keep operating it after a sale.

The union tried to meet with officials of Chatham Asset Management at the firm's Morris County headquarters, but was rebuffed.

Local 54 has expressed concern that a sale could result in the shutdown of the casino, or large-scale job losses.

Kreeger says he hopes a sale, a joint venture or a partnership with another company can be reached by the end of the year.
