Alvin H. Butz Inc. was recently awarded the contract to
build a $2 million amphitheater for Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton.
The work is the second phase of a four-phase plan to improve
the sanctuary as part of its "School in the Clouds" campaign.
The project will include a new outdoor classroom as well as
an extensive Americans with Disabilities Act trail that leads from the new
amphitheater to the existing visiting center.
The amphitheater will seat 250 and will include a covered
stage with sound and lighting.
Butz said it will use natural materials that blend in
seamlessly with the surrounding woods and other green features in the
construction.
The project will begin in November and take an estimated
five months to complete, with an expected completion date of spring 2015,
pending funding.
