11 NJ communities approve school projects; 2 don't

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Voters in 11 of 13 New Jersey school districts have approved requests for more money for construction projects.

But the two projects rejected in votes held Tuesday were among those with the biggest costs.

Voters rejected a $37 million proposal from the Greater Egg Harbor Regional district to renovate three high schools and a $27 million request from Glassboro for mechanical, security and other upgrades at five schools plus creating a theater at the high school.

The 11 approved bond proposals total $116 million in construction costs and are eligible for $50 million in state subsidies, according to the New Jersey School Boards Association.

The majority of the projects include school security upgrades.
