City Council’s rules committee recommended yesterday that
the development can be constructed without any new zoning approvals, said Peter
Kelsen, an attorney with Blank Rome who represents Dranoff.
The project consists of a 47-story building that would front
South Broad Street at Spruce Street. It would have 149 hotel rooms and 123 condominiums,
a corner bar and restaurant as well as street-level retail. In addition, the
building would have a rooftop lounge, 75-foot swimming pool and
6,000-square-foot ballroom that overlooks the Kimmel Center for Performing
Arts.
Dranoff, a Philadelphia developer, is partnering with SLS
Hotels on the project. SLS is a luxury hotel brand established by Sam Nazarian,
who operates sbe, a Los Angeles hospitality company he started in 2002.
