Einstein Healthcare Network has completed two renovation
projects at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, and added 50 jobs at the East
Norriton, Pa., hospital.
The hospital added a 24-bed surgical step-down unit on its
fourth floor, which replaces the area formerly used as administrative office
space. Four beds will be specifically for post-cardiac bypass surgery patients
who are being transitioned from the intensive-care unit. The remaining 20 beds
will be dedicated to post surgical patients who require monitored care.
“We knew immediately upon opening Einstein Montgomery 15
months ago, that demand from the community would require the conversion of the
fourth floor much sooner than we had originally planned,” said Beth Duffy,
chief operating officer at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery. “This expansion
will enable our staff to better serve our patients, especially those who are
recovering from surgery.”
The new unit will bring the total number of licensed beds at
Einstein Montgomery to 170.
The medical center also added a seventh
labor/delivery/recovery room for its obstetrical service line. Since opening,
Einstein Medical Center Montgomery has delivered over 2,100 babies.
The price tag for the two projects was not immediately
available from Einstein.
Einstein Medical Center Montgomery has slightly more than
1,000 employees at its 87-acre campus in central Montgomery County.
