Easton Planning Commission to hear update on plans for Gov. Wolf Building

Easton Planning Commission to hear update on plans for Gov. Wolf Building

Developer Mark Mulligan is leading Easton's redevelopment revival. Of The Pomeroy's Building on Northampton Street, Mulligan said the size and scale of the building dictated it be cut in half.

Easton officials will hear the latest details on Mark Mulligan's plans to transform the Gov. Wolf Building into residential space.

The Easton Planning Commission will hear an update on the Gov. Wolf Building on North Second Street at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mulligan, CEO of VM Development Group LLC, has an agreement to buy the Gov. Wolf Building from Northampton County for $1.92 million. Mulligan declined comment today.

Mulligan's development group has purchased or is developing several significant properties in the city.

Mulligan bought the former Pomeroy’s building in 2010, reopening the Northampton Street side of the building with two restaurants and 22 apartments. He bought the former Northampton National Bank Building — known today as the National Building — at Northampton and South Fourth streets.

VM Development also purchased the Alpha building, which currently houses Easton City Hall and several private tenants. But the group's most ambitious project in the city is the redevelopment of the former Simon Silk Mill on North 13th Street, which includes an estimated $70 million in private and public funding.

A former member of the Washington Business Improvement District in New Jersey, Mulligan also redeveloped buildings in the borough and in Flemington.
