The five applicants for Philadelphia's second casino license
have released new details about how their proposals would affect traffic.
The updated traffic plans were posted Thursday on the
Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's website.
The applicants have filed several rounds of traffic impact
studies to address concerns raised by officials and the Malvern engineering
firm Orth-Rodgers & Associates, which has conducted reviews of the bidders'
traffic plans.
The updated studies are expected to be the final ones
submitted before suitability hearings take place in late January.
The applicants for the city's next casino license, expected
to be awarded next year, are:
Casino Revolution,
planned by "Tomato King" Joseph Procacci and his PHL Local Gaming for
South Philadelphia's stadium district
Hollywood Casino,
proposed by the Berks County-based Penn National Gaming, also for South
Philadelphia
Live! Hotel &
Casino, planned by Parx Casino owner Greenwood Racing and Xfinity Live!
operator Cordish Companies, also for South Philadelphia
The Provence,
planned by developer Bart Blatstein for the former home of the Philadelphia
Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com on North Broad Street
Market8, propsed
by developer Ken Goldenberg and his Market East Associates for Eighth and Market
streets
Las Vegas casino magnate Steve Wynn was also vyijng for the
license, but dropped his bid last month.
The public can submit comments to the gaming board about the
casino applications until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
