Custom Milling & Consulting Inc. in Fleetwood broke
Tuesday on a 33,000-square foot property, next to its existing site, that will
become a new warehouse and production facility by next summer, bringing with it
up to 10 more jobs.
"We are actually growing a lot lately and are
outsourcing more," Ashlee Story, sales and marketing administrator for
Custom Milling, said of the $2.9 million project. "This will help increase
our sales and allow us to keep growing."
Custom Milling, which makes milling and grinding equipment,
currently has 45,000 square feet of space in three buildings.
The new warehouse will include a storage facility, which
will save the company in rental costs for off-site storage to house its
increasing inventory.
In addition, the new building will be used to grind, blend
and mix products for clients who do not own milling and grinding equipment.
Custom Milling said in recent years it has seen a significant increase in that
area of its business.
"Because of the care required to process and analyze
the products we make, we only run a one-shift operation," said Joe Zidik,
vice president and co-owner of Custom Milling. "But now that our
technicians are becoming better trained, we plan to add an additional shift and
as many as 10 more employees in the coming year."
Custom Milling obtained a $1.6 million loan with the
Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority for the expansion. Associated
Construction in Shillington will be the lead contractor on the project.
