Ecopax Inc., a Forks Township manufacturer of single-use
foam, paper and plastic products for both the food service and consumer
industries, completed a $3.7 million equipment and facilities expansion that
would boost the company’s manufacturing capacity by 50 percent and add 15
full-time employees.
The equipment includes a 12-ton thermoformer, a device that
molds or fabricates the final product, and a 19-ton extruder, a machine that
pushes or pulls the material. Both pieces of equipment are expected to operate
at full capacity by the end of the year.
The company also had six new storage silos installed by its
two existing storage silos, increasing the manufacturer's storage and
production capabilities. In 2012, the company completed a $2.15 million,
75,000-square-foot expansion.
The company began interviewing for the 15 positions, with at
least two of those roles designated as management positions. All 15 positions
are expected to be filled by the end of the year.
"Business outlook is very positive," said
Christina Wong, vice president of operations for Ecopax. "The 15 new hires
will be supporting the expansion. The entire capacity will be expanded."
Wong said the company used several local contractors for the
expansion, including Frick Transfer Inc. of Easton, Air Center Inc. of
Bethlehem, Fritch of Bethlehem and Comroe Advanced Power Inc. of Northampton.
North Star Construction Management Inc. of Upper Macungie
Township built the expansion.
