ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Bally's Atlantic City embarked Tuesday on a $5.6 million makeover of its casino floor.
In addition to sprucing up the look and feel of the gambling areas, the project is designed to draw more customers, in part by moving high-energy table games to the edges of casino floor walkways instead of having them ensconced deep within gambling areas.
It will include new carpeting, decorations and chairs, and reconfigured slot machines and table games.
"These renovations will provide us with the opportunity to elevate our guests' entire experience to unprecedented levels, thereby enhancing the allurement and essence of this true Atlantic City landmark," said Kevin Ortzman, senior vice president and general manager of Bally's, as well as two of its three sister properties, Caesars Atlantic City and the Showboat Casino Hotel.
The project will unfold in three phases and will be completed by mid-February.
Walls will be repainted, pillars will be redone and mirrored catwalks will get a new look as well.
Slot machines will be positioned in color-coded areas to help players find them more easily, and every sign on the casino floor will be replaced.
The project is the first major renovation at Bally's since a $60 million makeover of one of its four hotel towers, the Dennis Tower, in 2008.
Over the first nine months of this year, Bally's has won $192.6 million from gamblers, ranking it fifth out of Atlantic City's 12 casinos.
Bally's is among the four Atlantic City casinos owed by Caesars Entertainment Inc.
It opened on the Boardwalk in 1981. It includes what was once a stand-alone casino hotel, the Claridge.
