York's Redevelopment Authority at its meeting on
Wednesday night agreed to purchase the former Danskin factory property, with
plans for it to be converted to housing.
Danskin, a fabric company that once employed more than
1,000 people locally, sold the 4.2-acre, 300 N. State property to 300 North
State Street LP for $260,000 in 2010.
Now, the Authority is buying the land - and the pile of
rubble on it - for $25,000.
Shilvosky Buffaloe, interim director of the city's
Department of Economic and Community Development, said the property would
likely be developed as mixed-use housing.
